Liftking Round Slings 5,000kg

Liftking 5,000kg Endless Round Sling, 0.5m to 6m EWL

The Liftking 5,000kg / 5 tonne endless round sling is a high capacity polyester lifting sling designed for heavy industrial lifting where a soft, load-friendly alternative to chain or wire rope is preferred. With a 5,000kg working load limit and 7:1 factor of safety, it is suitable for construction, civil engineering, heavy manufacturing and plant handling applications.

This 5 tonne round sling is manufactured from 100% polyester and colour coded red for quick WLL identification on site. The protective outer sleeve helps shield the load-bearing core and reduce load marking, while the endless design provides excellent flexibility when positioning the sling. Each sling is manufactured to EN1492-2:2000, certified to TUV and GS standard, and supplied with a certificate of conformity.

Common Uses for a 5 Tonne Round Sling

This 5,000kg endless round sling is commonly used for structural steelwork, heavy fabricated assemblies, precast concrete, plant machinery, industrial equipment and construction lifting. It is a practical choice where a higher WLL is required but the load still needs protection from hard lifting media.

Typical applications include machinery installation, lifting large frames, handling heavy plant components, moving precast sections and positioning steelwork. The soft polyester sleeve helps protect the load surface when correctly selected and used with suitable edge protection.

How to Measure an Endless Round Sling

Endless round slings are measured by their Effective Working Length, also known as EWL. This is the usable length of the sling when it is laid flat and measured from one end to the other, as shown in the diagram.

Effective working length diagram for endless round sling

The full circumference of an endless round sling is approximately double the EWL. For example, a 2m EWL round sling has an approximate full circumference of 4m.

When choosing the correct length, consider the size and shape of the load, the lifting points, the hook size, the hitch type and the required lifting angle. The sling should sit correctly around the load without being twisted, bunched or forced over sharp edges.

Always select the correct EWL for the lifting method being used and refer to the sling label, lift plan and load chart before use.

Lifting Hitches and Capacity Guidance

Straight Lift

Suitable for vertical lifting up to the rated WLL shown on the sling label.

Basket Hitch

Can be used where the load is supported correctly, the sling angle is suitable and the lift has been properly planned.

Choke Hitch

Can reduce the effective working capacity. Always check the sling label, hitch factor and lifting plan before use.

LOLER Inspection and Safe Use

Under LOLER, lifting accessories such as round slings should be thoroughly examined by a competent person every 6 months, unless a written examination scheme specifies a different interval. A pre-use visual inspection should also be completed before every lift.

Check for cuts, tears, abrasion, damaged stitching, heat damage, chemical contamination, missing or illegible labels, exposed core fibres and any signs of overloading. Do not use the sling on sharp edges without suitable edge protection.
